Teen Programs At A Glance

Teen Advisory Board:

Help us make the library a better place for teens!  Join our Teen Advisory Board (TAB) and have a say in the programs the library offers to teens.  TAB members also get first crack at volunteer opportunities around the library!

Book Wizards Book Club (for grades 5-8):

Join us to discuss titles chosen by book club members.  Open to Grades 5-8.  Meetings are on the 4th Thursday of the month at 4:30 PM.  Check out the online calendar to see when the next session is.  Stop by circulation to pick up a copy of the latest book!

Rants & Raves Book Club (for grades 8-12):

Join us to discuss teen titles chosen by book club members.  Open to teens in Grades 8-12.  Meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 6:30 PM.  Check out the online calendar to see when the next session is.  Stop by circulation to pick up a copy of the latest book!

Book Hours:

Read books for community service!  Teens Grades 6-12 can now earn community service hours by reviewing books for our Teen Reads blog.  Visit https://guides.rcls.org/teencorner/bookhours for more information.

Take & Make Kits:

Relax at home with a Take & Make Craft Kit for Teens & Older Kids!  Stop by the library and ask at the circulation desk or grab-n-go at our drive-thru.  Take & Make Kits include supplies and instructions for a variety of projects.  New Kits available each month.  Kits are limited.  First come, first serve!

Summer Reading Program:

Join us for a whole summer of Reading Challenges, fun events, raffles, prizes, and more!  The Summer Reading Program is a free program for people of all ages, including babies and adults!

Summer Reading is a yearly, themed reading program that starts at the end of the school year.  Information on Summer Reading is available each year in late spring.

In addition to participating in Reading Challenges and library events, teens entering Grades 8-12 can apply to become a Summer Reading Volunteer.  Applications are available online or at the library starting in May.

Battle of the Books:

Calling all readers!  Join Moffat Library’s Battle of the Books team to compete in the Ramapo Catskill Library System’s region reading competition!  Team members are expected to read 8 pre-selected books, attend book discussions and practices, and finally compete in the regional competition at the end of the summer.  Meetings start in June and continue until the Battle of the Books competition at the end of the summer.  Teens entering Grades 6-12 are eligible to join.
