It can be a struggle sometimes to keep up with all the different computer programs and tools we need to use.

Don’t have internet access at home? Everyone is welcome to make use of these tutorials at one of the library’s public computers.

The following online tutorials and videos will help you learn or review – at your own pace – essential technology skills.

Niche Academy

Niche Academy is the platform that Moffat Library and other libraries in the Ramapo Catskill Library System use to create written and video based step-by-step instructions on a broad variety of topics. Whether it is learning how to get the most out of Microsoft Office programs, making use of library databases such as Consumer Reports and Rosetta Stone, or getting reliable public health information, Niche Academy has an easy-to-follow tutorial for you. Simply click on the tutorial that you want to complete and follow along with the video lesson.

You can create a free account on Niche Academy with your email address to save your progress + keep track of tutorials that you have already completed. Don’t have an email address or don’t want to create an account? That’s okay. You are welcome to browse and use Niche Academy tutorials immediately.

Digital Learn

Digital Learn is a project of the Public Library Association to serve as an online hub for digital literacy training. The site hosts a collection of free, self-directed tutorials for all users, especially beginners. Most tutorials are narration-based videos, usually no more than 20 minutes long, containing only plain, easily understood language. Digital Learn was designed to help everyone gain the confidence they need to successfully use computers and safely navigate the internet.

At this time, there is no need to create an account or to take any additional steps in order to access Digital Learn’s courses. Just select a module and start learning!

Many Digital Learn courses are also available in Spanish.

GCF Global

This educational site is a project of the Goodwill Community Foundation. They have been providing free essential skills and technology training for over 20 years. Educational topics range from core skills in math and reading, basic computer and internet skills, personal finance, job applications and career advancement, and advanced usage of common commercial software. Tutorials are completely free and designed to progress at your own pace. With interactive videos and lessons, you can practice the demonstrated skills directly in the tutorial.

GCF Global is also available in Spanish.
