HISTORIC POSTCARD JIGSAW PUZZLES
Take a trip down Main Street, 105 years ago with this week's jigsaw puzzle postcard! This image includes several local icons.
On the right is the elm tree, and watering trough, which stood at the corner of Goshen Avenue, and Main Street, the Samuel Moffat Store, and post-office.
On the left is the "Armenian Building" which contained the grocery store of John T. Brooks, Bond's Drug Store, and the Grange Store, with the National Bank building on the corner of Main, and South Streets.
At this time the Blooming Grove Turnpike (Route 94) was still paved in our area, it would be replaced by a concrete road in 1919.
According to our Local History Librarian, the banner across main street was placed there by a local suffragette club for the upcoming vote to allow women to vote in New York State!
