Saturday, July 22nd from 9:30 am – 1:00 pm, explore the century’s old ruins of the Sterling Ironworks at Sterling Forest State Park. From 1762 to the 1840’s, the Sterling Iron Works was an industrial hub; best known for producing the “West Point Chain” that prevented the British from sailing up the Hudson River during the American Revolution.
Attendees will meet at Lautenberg Visitor Center at 116 Old Forge Road, Tuxedo, NY 10987 and take the .5 mile Lakeville Ironworks Trail to the 4.1 mile Sterling Lake Trail to see the ruins, as well as admire the natural beauty of Sterling Lake.
Participants are responsible for bringing the following items:
- Water
- First aid kit
- Sunscreen
- Bugspray
- Non-perishable food items
- Hiking boots, or comfortable shoes
- Camera
