Saturday, August 15th at 10:00 AM at Fort Montgomery State Historic Site.
This 2 mile hike will take you along the same route British soldiers took during their October 1777 attack on Forts Clinton and Montgomery. The hike begins at Fort Montgomery State Historic Site, where we’ll tour the ruins of the American fort, and learn more about the people who defended it from the British army of Sir Henry Clinton. Then we will walk across the Popolopen Creek to the Bear Mountain Trailside Zoo and Museums to learn more about the natural history of the area!
Fort Montgomery State Historic Site has parking on the Visitor’s center grounds, however additional parking is available on Route 9W, a half-mile north of Fort Montgomery.
Participants should bring a good pair of hiking boots, sun screen, bug spray, water, non-perishable food, and a camera!
