Unfortunately, there is no shortage of bad actors online. In this class, we’ll cover some basic steps you can take to protect your devices and your personal information while using the internet to accomplish your goals. Whether you want to simply protect your privacy or avoid things like malware and ransomware, it is important to note that using the internet is always a balance between convenience and security, and you should carefully consider what steps work best in your unique situation. We’ll then look at some common threats and scams so that you can be forewarned and confident online.
This class is the third of a three part series in Autumn 2023. Click here to register for the first and second classes in the series. It is not necessary to attend all three to benefit. However, if you have limited experience with computers, we recommend attending the previous two classes before attending this one. We will be referring to concepts – such as a basic understanding of how the internet works and strong account passwords – discussed in the previous two classes when considering how to increase your security online.
