Sixth Annual Meet the Authors Luncheon

1-4 p.m. Sunday, April 29

at Mountainville Manor, 199 Taylor Road, Mountainville

   The Friends will host the sixth annual luncheon to commemorate the 125th anniversary of Moffat Library. Featured authors are young adult author and former New York Times sports writer Robert Lipsyte and novelist Sam Lipsyte. Authors will sign copies of their books, which will be sold at the event. The luncheon is also a tribute to Anthony J. Knipp, former Moffat Library and Ramapo Catskill Library System trustee who passed away May 13, 2003.

Robert Lipsyte is a well-known sports journalist and author of adult and young adult fiction and nonfiction. Robert Lipsyte is best known for his works One Fat Summer and The Contender. His most recent book, An Accidental Sportswriter, is a memoir about his more than 50 years of covering sports. Robert grew up in the Monroe area and was a frequent visitor to Moffat Library as a young man.

Sam Lipsyte, Robert’s son, is a novelist and short-story writer. He currently teaches fiction at Columbia University. His novel Home Land was a New York Times Notable Book of the Year for 2005 and winner of the inaugural 2004 Believer Book Award.

THE FRIENDS OF MOFFAT LIBRARY

We are working for the Moffat Library by promoting the library, its services and programs to the community. Everything we do benefits the library! Please read about the events planned and let us know if you would like to help with any of them you will have fun and meet other Friends, too!
